The main function of this position is to increase and retain the Biblioteca’s membership base. Memberships provide critical operational funding, support for political and social purposes and are a source of volunteers and donors. This position can be conducted from home but requires some contact with Biblioteca staff. 1. The Membership Development Volunteer will produce and conduct creative programs or projects to enhance membership sales. 2. The Volunteer will ensure that there is a current and accurate membership brochure. When a new or updated one is required, arrange to produce it and/or additional brochures for specific purposes. 3. The Volunteer will also maintain an inventory of brochures and other documents needed to enhance membership and reorder another printing before supplies are depleted.
4. The Volunteer will setup and man booths, tables etc. in the Jardin and at other functions where memberships can be sold. Develop a list with dates and times. 5. The Volunteer will collect names from all events and workshops and follow up after by phone or e-mail with those who are not already members. This personal contact can greatly increase memberships. 6. When members fail to renew and have lapsed, ensure that the Membership Volunteer who updates the list has sent letters and made personal contact. If not the Membership Development Volunteer should do so. 8. Contact the Volunteer Coordinator when you need volunteers and report to her regarding any problems, concerns or negative or positive feedback. 9. Keep a log of hours spent on this Volunteer position and report the same to Volunteer Coordinator monthly. Time: A block of time will be required at the beginning to gather information on materials, memberships etc. Approximately 2-4 hours per week should be sufficient time to carry out the duties.
